Having always been very 'health aware', an email from my gym advertising a nutritionist piqued my curiosity - what would this offer, what would it do for me? There was only one thing to do and that was to pick up the phone and make an appointment! What an eye opener that turned out to be! I had been battling to lose a few kilos, I was constantly tired and also suffered quite badly from bloating/wind etc. Was this an age related issue (menopause etc) or was it something else?
Nutrition Therapy's initial questionnaire and consultation highlighted so many of the problems I was having with the metabolic testing confirming it all. Whilst I may have been eating 'good' foods my digestion was poor (hence the bloating etc) and so my body's absorption of any nutrition was minimal. I immediately made changes to my diet and the difference it has made has been remarkable. No more highs and lows with my blood sugar having evened out, no more looking round for stuff to nibble on, no more feeling tired and, best of all, I've lost several kilos. The amazing thing is that it has been so easy - I'm not on a diet, it was simply a lifestyle change and an increased awareness of what foods can do to you (or for you!).

Prior to visiting Claire at Nutrition Therapy I had been suffering from an eating disorder for over two years. I felt like eating was a sin and would feel immense guilt with every bite. I was always told that the cure to my illness was simply 'to eat' and was pressured into eating foods I didn't like and that made me feel worse. I felt like I had no reason to eat and despised doing so.
After my first appointment with Claire I left feeling empowered and positive. I finally felt listened to and understood, like an individual rather than just another pay cheque. I was given a meal plan of foods I liked and wanted to eat, that made me feel good. The focus was on choosing foods to nourish my body and restore health rather than just to gain weight. I started looking forward to mealtimes and gaining my weight back. I believe the nutrition not only did my body good but my mental and emotional state too. An eating disorder is a mental disorder, not a physical one.
After several months with Claire's support and guidance I now feel healthier than I ever did before my illness. The weight I have gained has happened gradually as my body has begun to heal. My physical and emotional health have improved hand in hand and I've learned that eating is about looking after myself and nothing to feel guilty about. I do things now that I've never felt physically strong enough to do and have grown the strength and confidence to feel I can tackle anything.
Best of all my menstrual cycle has returned. My greatest fear throughout my illness was losing my fertility, but now I am looking forward to having children of my own one day.
I cannot thank Claire enough for her help and kindness which has touched me considerably and helped me turn my life around from one of it's darkest points. I will carry the knowledge and skills I have gained with me through the rest of my life and look forward to a happy and healthy future.

I've been seeing Claire Harper-Wilson at regular intervals over the last 3 months and have never felt this healthy or full of energy before. I went to Claire because I had been suffering from gastric reflux for several weeks and lacked energy. Thank goodness Claire did not even mention the word "diet" - I've tried several and the results have always been negative. I now follow an eating plan formulated by Claire and for 3 months I have been enjoying my food, have had no episodes of gastric reflux, am full of energy and have lost approximately 500grams per week. Thank you Claire, for your wonderful eating plan! Menopause is such a tricky time in a woman's life, but having spoken to you and having a clearer understanding of when to eat certain foods makes so much more sense! Weight loss during menopause is possible! My initial motivation of seeing a nutritionist was to improve my well being and you have certainly helped me to achieve that! Due to eating correctly and avoiding some foods, I no longer have the dreadful pain in my hands and feet. Exercise and walking are now part of my daily routine. Plus I am a few kilograms lighter! I didn't realise how many carbohydrates and sugars were in my diet before seeing Claire. I struggled to lose weight and was not seeing any benefits from exercise. Because of family heath issues I wanted to become healthier, to have more energy and to lose weight. Claire taught me what foods my body needs to be healthy and that it is not about scale weight but fat burning and muscle building. I learnt about portion size and the right times for eating and drinking specific to my body.
